I started doing restorative yoga at the end of my day because my brain feels like it’s still “on” even when I’m exhausted. What surprises me is how different it feels from stretching: sometimes I’m barely moving, just supported by pillows/blankets, and suddenly my whole body melts and my thoughts slow down.
Like… why does it work so well? Is it mainly the breathing, the long holds, or something happening with the nervous system? Also, is it normal to get a little emotional after a session? I’m not looking for medical advice, just trying to understand why restorative yoga is so relaxing compared to other styles.
