Hi everyone. I keep seeing the phrase “yoga for emotional grounding” and I’m not totally sure what people mean by it. I’m not looking for a super intense workout—more like something that helps when I feel emotionally “floaty” or overwhelmed, like my brain is racing and I can’t settle.
For context: I work at a computer all day, I’m often anxious in the evenings, and sometimes I get this weird mix of overthinking + feeling disconnected from my body. I’ve tried a few YouTube flows but they either feel too fast or too stretchy and then I get frustrated.
So what is emotional grounding in yoga terms? Is it specific poses, breathing, a type of class (yin, hatha, restorative), or more of a mindset? If you have a short routine that actually helps you feel stable and present, I’d love to hear it. Also—if this overlaps with anxiety stuff, I’m open to gentle suggestions (and I do know professional help exists if needed).
