Hi everyone 🌿 I keep seeing the term “yoga embodiment therapy” on studio websites and on therapist profiles, and I’m honestly confused about what it actually means.
I’ve done a few beginner classes (mostly gentle vinyasa) and I like yoga, but I’m not super flexible and I can get anxious in group settings. Lately I’ve been trying to work on feeling more “in my body” instead of living in my head all day. A friend mentioned embodiment work and said it can help with stress and emotional regulation.
So… what is yoga embodiment therapy exactly? Is it like yoga + talk therapy? Is it trauma-informed yoga? Or just a fancy marketing phrase?
If anyone has tried it, what happens in a session and how do you know if a teacher is legit/safe? Not looking for medical advice, just trying to understand before I book something. Thanks 💜
