Hi everyone 💜 I’ve been practicing yin yoga at home for about a year (mostly YouTube classes) and I keep seeing “advanced yin yoga” on schedules and thumbnails. I’m not sure what makes it advanced—like is it just deeper stretches, longer holds, or more complicated poses?
For context: I’m not super flexible, but I can stay in a pose for 3–4 minutes if I’m comfortable. Some hip stuff (pigeon variations, saddle) feels intense and I don’t want to push into pain. I’m curious because I love the calm/meditative vibe of yin, but I also don’t want to show up to an “advanced” class and feel lost or risk tweaking something.
So… what is advanced yin yoga really? And how do you know if you’re ready?
