Hi everyone ✨ I’ve been practicing Ashtanga (mostly Mysore style) for about a year and a half. I’m comfortable with shoulderstand and headstand basics, but I keep hearing people in class talk about “advanced inversions” like they’re a specific category in Ashtanga.
What exactly counts as an advanced inversion in Ashtanga yoga? Is it just longer holds in Sirsasana/Sarvangasana, or does it mean certain 2nd/3rd series poses? I’m not trying to rush—just want to understand the terminology and what skills (strength, breath, bandhas) people mean when they say “advanced.” Also, any safety considerations you wish you knew earlier would be appreciated.
